Karen Wahrmund, Grants Coordinator and Bookkeeper
Karen Wahrmund, at left in photo above, manages the day-to-day operations at CLEER and coordinates grant proposals and reporting. Karen also does bookkeeping for CLEER by tracking budgets and expenses, creating invoices, and working closely with CLEER's financial director.
Karen is also the manager of the Bike and Walk to School Challenge for Garfield Clean Energy, and provides essential support to other CLEER staff for planning and running special events.
Her accounting and management skills have been developed through numerous posts in private-sector establishments, including Recreational Equipment Incorporated, various bicycle shops in Colorado and Texas, and several organic farms in Colorado. Before joining the CLEER team, Karen designed and implemented organizational systems for these businesses to better manage sales, reporting, and customer experience.
In 2010, Karen served as administrative assistant for the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, where she edited and managed reports on air and water quality, and environmental health issues.
Karen holds a BA in business and liberal arts from the University of Texas, and did graduate work in education at Texas State University. She also holds certifications in grant writing and nonprofit management.
She enjoys cycling, hiking, tennis, rafting, camping, cross-country skiing, trail running with her dog, reading, being active, organic gardening, traveling and learning new skills.
Garfield Clean Energy Collaborative contracts with CLEER to provide programs and services across Garfield County. Garfield Clean Energy is the state’s first clean energy authority, joining together 10 local government partners.
