Event Details

The Carbondale Community Geothermal Coalition, led by CLEER, is currently designing what’s known as a community thermal energy network. The system is intended to heat and cool a 16-acre section of Carbondale that includes the Third Street Center, the library, a school district building and a number of residences. It’s one of only four rural projects nationwide to receive a design grant through the Department of Energy’s Geothermal Technologies Office.

Community members are encouraged to attend this family-friendly open house to learn about the project. There will be several Q & A stations to learn about geothermal principles, and kids will be able to have fun with a craft table and participate in a geothermal science activity hosted by the Aspen Science Center. Pizza and snacks will be provided, and Spanish translation will be available.

(A separate workshop for industry professionals will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. – those interested can register here.)
